It was quite a sight to behold as hundreds of students gathered in Franklin County on March 26 to celebrate diversity.

About 13-hundred students from throughout Kentucky took part in the 11th Annual Governor's Diversity Day at the Frankfort Convention Center.

They took part in sessions and experienced exhibits learning why diversity should be taught in schools.

The theme for the event was "My Diversity, My Choice."

"They do have a choice to better themselves for the Commonwealth," said Michele Lawless, of the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet.

Officials say the event's mission is to teach students about the many cultures that make up the Commonwealth.
