Vietnam Soldier Missing in Action for 36-years is buried in Russell County

Russell County Vietnam Soldier buried

The body of a Russell County Vietnam War Soldier has been laid to rest after 36-years. Sergeant First Class Raymond Bobe was buried Saturday morning with full military honors at Lucenda Cemetery in Russell Springs. The Military says he is the last Vietnam Era soldier from this area Missing in Action.
Bobe and four other soldiers died when their plane crashed during bad weather conditions in 1969. Search teams found remnants of the plane and Bobe's body in a mountainous region in Southern Vietnam. DNA tests later confirmed his identity.
