A mother in Louisville has pleaded not guilty to murdering her two children.

37-year-old Gail Lynn Coontz made her first court appearance on March 28 after being charged with killing her 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.

Police say both children were shot in their sleep and died of multiple gunshot wounds at their south Louisville home.

Police say Coontz then went to the University of Louisville campus on March 27 and brandished a gun in a counselor's office.
