Warren County's Language and Literacy Center provides a little extra help for students who speak English as a Second Language.
The director, Janet Yaeger, says, "During the school year we have homework assistance teaching English and extra time for difficult subjects."
A summer program is also offered to help the kids. This summer the focus is on arts, humanities, and reading.
Yaeger says, "The reading was one of these things we wanted to focus on because not only when we read we stress the vocabulary and what the words mean."
Yaeger says different artists, musicians, and dancers came in to teach the history of their subjects.
Since the center opened two years ago, Yaeger says the students are showing improvement in their classes.
There's one more year left in Warren County's grant for the Language and Literacy program. Yaeger says she hopes the county will apply for another grant to continue it.
