Drug Recall Controversy

By Kelly Sparks |

Last September, Merck did a voluntary recall on its popular drug Vioxx. The well-known pain reliever was pulled off the market after a study found that some patients that used the drug suffered a medical condition.

This past week a class action lawsuit was filed in Warren Circuit Court claiming the drug caused pain and suffering.

Reports say Merck removed Vioxx from the market in September 2004 after an in house study showed that taking Vioxx doubled the risk of a heart attack and stroke for patients who took the drug for 18 months or more.
