Family and friends mourn the loss of a loved one after a drowning in Barren River.
Search and Rescue workers found 18-year-old Christopher Morrison’s body after a four-hour search of the Barren River Saturday night.
Morrison was swimming with a friend when witnesses say the teen was quickly swept away by the current.
The teen’s family sat and waited by the shore, until his body was recovered a couple hundred feet down the river.
The Bowling Green teen had been swimming at Weldon Peete Park. This drowning was the second death there in the past three weeks.
One of Morrison’s friends says she wants the park to be shut down or have more supervision to prevent another death from happening.
Rescue workers say there are three cars in the bottom of river as well as shopping carts and fishing lines floating in the water.
Some workers say they hope city officials will post signs warning people of the dangers in this area.
