Heat Causes Record Power Usage

After the recent unbearable heat index, Bowling Green Municipal Utilities announced power usage was at a record high.

According to BGMU power usage peaked at 194.9 megawatts, which was the third peak of the summer.

In 2003, the peak just reached 184.4 megawatts.

The heat also attributed to a power outage that left several Bowling Green residents, businesses, and restaurants in the dark.

Fans at the Cave Mill substation malfunctioned, which are used to cool the transformer.

Many businesses and restaurants on Campbell Lane were forced to shut their doors for a short time due to blackout.
