Warren County Gets $115,000 in Monarch Environmental Settlement

Monarch Environmental will reimburse the county $115,000 for legal expenses connected to a 1997 case. In June of that year, Huish Detergents sued Monarch and Warren County, over the terms of an exclusive franchise agreement between Monarch and the county.

Monarch had previously agreed to pay for Warren County's defense in any legal proceedings resulting from that franchise agreement. But in August of 2000, Monarch withdrew from the case and left Warren County to fend for itself. Warren County sued for those legal expenses.

Now that the suit has been settled, Warren County's Fiscal Court voted unanimously today, to approve a new contract with Monarch.
