The Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center'ss transition from Western's campus to downtown is now official.
SKYPAC board members presented a $1 million check to the city commission tonight.
The money comes from selling SKYPAC's original site on the hill to WKU.
Now the city will use the money to buy property for SKYPAC's new location on College Street between 6th and 7th streets.
"Excited about the opportunity to move the project downtown in hopes that it will be helpful to the idea of downtown redevelopment," said SKYPAC Board Chairman Rick McCue.
The city has already begun negotiations with several property owners in that block and some sales contracts could be finalized soon.
