Western Football Coach Jack Harbaugh is approaching his 15th year at WKU. His leadership and pure determination have landed the Hilltoppers in the national spotlight and have made Western a household name.

Harbaugh is a living example of what he preaches, perseverance. Coach Harbaugh literally brought this football program back from the dead when in March of 1992, then president Thomas Meredith told him the university planned to suspend football. Although a vote saved the program, the coaching staff was cut by two, so were a number of scholarships and half of the football budget.

Harbaugh preserved, eventually bringing recognition to a team who's hard work and dedication would lead them to win last year's Gateway Conference Championship and take home Western's first 1-AA National Championship.

Now signs that border Bowling Green proclaim the accomplishments of a team, lead by one man. This week, Jack Harbaugh was named AFCA's National Coach of the Year.
