More Money Needed for CEC

The number of children diagnosed with Autism has skyrocketed over the past decade, causing widespread concern. South Central Kentucky families struggling to cope with the disorder will soon have a treatment facility nearby.

Construction on the Clinical Education Complex at Western Kentucky University is currently underway. It will house five different programs including an Early Childhood Clinic, Communications Disorders Clinic, Family Counseling, Acquired Brain Injury and Kelly Autism Program.

Wednesday, the CEC Charter Committee announced a new target completion date. The 15,000 square ft. facility is expected to open this spring.

Organizers have raised more than $1.3 million, but more than a million is still needed.
