Prices for gas and oil will continue to rise. The fundamental problem is not that we are being "ripped off" by oil companies. Rather, it is that the world is rapidly running out of oil. For that basic reason, gas and oil prices will continue to rise, and more rapidly in the future than in the past. Further, none of the substitutes (solar, wind, nuclear, hydrogen , etc.)can produce the cheap energy in adequate supplies to replace oil. We - meaning all of humanity - are in a terrible fix, with no solution in sight. Conservation will help, but just a bit.
i will be like the man on the horse if we aii could just think about we are the ones to put the price on everthing if everone would think i worked 10'oo an hour or iworked8'oo an hour i my self have worked for less than 1'50 per hour i think if ever one would go back to horses and buggies then coil oil lamps and taking ground to build new homes to take up ground and leave the ground emty then think about our young kids now babys and up where are they going to stand when our ground is gone i wont people to think about it the world is still turning rember wages go up prices goes up
This is our country and we are supposed to have freedom of speech, yet we never get heard. They need to take care of our people first. No wonder people committ suicide, the pressure is to intinst on us with trying to live and survive. The Government has got to do something to help the less fortunit have a better life. I get a whole 40 dollars food stamps for a whole month, and with the price of food going up also, what are us less fortunit ones supposed to do to survive. Please help the americans more. I'm so tired of having to struggle from day to day and i know there are plenty others out there to.
Thanks for the other horse story! I appreciate it! EcoFarmgirl
I used to drive a school bus. After gas, and a babysitter I didn't have "milk money"! I decided to ride my horse to work to save money... The next day I came to work to find a hitching post, complete with a chicken weather vane in my parking spot! People need to be curteous to riders... then I think more would ride! EcoFarmgirl
What is wrong with our Government. While they make great income, there are so many of us americans struggling just to eat and have a place to live. The gas prices are outrageous and unfair. While some have billons, others only have dollars to live on. It's unfair to be so greedy. It's supposed to be people helping people, not people taking advantage of people. There's got to be something done and it needs to be done quick before people end up killing each other just over money. Don't they know they can't take it with them when they die. They need to remember one major thing, GOD will be the final judge of those that are so selfish and money hungry.
I hope fuel prices hit $20 a gallon. That way the rich can get richer! Then all of us poor people can draw welfare and unemployment because we cant afford to go to work. Then the rich will have to pay for us! The government says they cant do anything, of course not, they are making to much money! It's a sad country we live in now. Way to step in and help your country Mr. Busch. Something is going to have to give. Does anyone remember the Boston Tea Party? History does repeat itself!!!!!!!!!
We just returned home from vacation in Mexico. Gas prices are great there. It's only 2.00/gal in us dollars. Why such the difference. Please answer this question for me, I just don't understand why they're so high here!!!
I travel an hour to work everyday. This rise in gas prices is killing me. The rich oil companies get richer while we get poorer. Something HAS to give. I love my job and dont want to leave it.
So, how can people in rural areas cope? We have to drive at least 20 miles to work one way , there is nothing closer, we have to drive at least 10 miles to the grocery and pay the extra price in a small store. Otherwise drive at least 20 miles to a store in Bowling Green and save grocery prices. I would just like to know how to cope, on the ABC news they say ride a bike, that is not possible....Please give us some real answers or give me a congressman e-mail or state senate or something, because these answers I see are not possible for rural families.
How 'bout we drill our own oil and forget about the other nations oil! This is really going to be the fall of our country. And why is this not the topic that is mostly debated in the presidential campaign????? Its the most important problem in America and all any does is aknowledge it and offer no solutions. Why why why?????
I am a teacher and I commute 60 miles a day round trip to work. I am looking forward to summer so I can park my car and give my bank account a rest. When it gets to a point that I am working just for gas money... I'll be forced to quit and find a job closer to home if possible. My husband commutes for work, too and we can't handle this much longer. Incidentally, KY auto insurance prices rose this year as well! We spend the majority of our money just to operate motor vehicles! Something's got to give!
It would not be an immediate fix but if we could drill our OWN oil in ANWR, Montana and the Florida Everglades, we could have enough oil to sustain the USA for years - WITHOUT BUYING FROM OPEC! If we are not careful, the former Soviet Union will slant drill into ANWR, the Chinese into the Everglades and possibly Canada into Montana. If that happens, we would be buying our own oil! We need to get congress to stop and think - Bail out the USA before bailing out the other countries. They can slant drill ANWR and the Everglades with minimal or no damage to the ecosystem. Get them off their butts and get our own oil!
The big corporations (oil, electronics, health, legal drugs, etc.) know how to increase their profits without an uprising from the public. Just let the word get out to the news media that it is going to happen in the future and sure enough, whether justified or not, prices rise. That is the game they force us to play.
i know the housing situation is a problem for some, but it seems like lowering gas prices would be a quicker fix for the economy. that directly effects us all (with moter vechiles). there has to be a way the government can step in. something has to be done.
