Members of the Medical Center's EMS traveled with others from across the state to Baton Rouge to help victims of Katrina.
Josh Wenzel says: "The conditions are unimaginable, it's hot, humid, and there's water in the city everywhere."
Wenzel says parts of the interstate are flooded and some exit ramps have been converted into boat docks.
He says on their first night came the chance to help a 14 year-old, who had gotten lost as he was on his way home. Wenzel says: "He got lost and ended up in the water and we took him to the airport, which was a collection point for the evacuees and we found his aunt. That made us feel like we were doing something good."
Wenzel says his group is planning to return soon, but if he has the chance to go back to Baton Rouge to help the survivors, he'd definitely do it.
Along with the crew from The Medical Center, Josh says there's a crew from Franklin-Simpson EMS, and the Monroe County EMS.
