Church Helps Out Tornado Victims

The United Methodist Church of Munfordville, in partnership with the American Red Cross, turned its sanctuary into a shelter Sunday evening after the devastating tornado.

According to Red Cross officials, the shelter has fed nearly 1,000 people a day since it opened.

Shelter volunteers are also going door to door handing out food and supplies.

Red Cross volunteer Angel Gates says the volunteers are keeping each other in good spirits despite the long hours.

The shelter is expected to be open at least through Saturday and is open to any and all residents of Munfordville.
