Jennifer Belcher is the mother of William Belcher. She says: "William's been on chemo since he was four months old. He's 18 months old now."
William was born with a rare blood disease. Only one in 200,000 children get it.
"From that point on we were scared to death. We thought he was going to die."
That's when they learned about St. Jude from a family friend.
"We were on our way to Memphis the next day. Our whole lives were torn around. It happened so fast."
As soon as they got to Memphis William had his central line put in. The next day he started chemotherapy.
"It's just amazing how much St. Jude has helped our family. If it wasn't for St. Jude, I don't know if he would be alive today."
William is now in remission, but there is a high possibility the disease will come back. Now his mother says he'll be able to do his favorite thing- play in the water. That's something he couldn't do when he had the central line in his chest. And she wants to spread the word about what a great place St. Jude is.
"I just know if I could touch one person out there. And have them just see how good this hospital is... it's worth everything."
