It was a special day on the hill Thursday, as Bowling Green resident Julie Allen released her first children's book that teaches messages of character development using Big Red as the main character.
Allen has been working on the book for over a year now. Allen is a WKU volunteer and 1993 graduate of the university. She says that, combined with her children's enthusiasm toward their furry red friend, is what motivated her to write the book.
"It's been a dream of mine for 15 years, so I took my dream and recreated my passion and excitement for WKU and my boy's love for Big Red and I combined it into a teaching tool for children."
Books go on sale Friday. To purchase one or find out more, log onto www.BigRedSpirit.com.
