It's what area police and firefighters have been waiting for!

On May 8, the city of Bowling Green announced the start of a wireless network.

The city has been working with BGMU and Cisco since November to set up a broadband wireless network.

The network would give police and firefighters instantaneous access to the Internet at anytime and anywhere in Bowling Green.

City and public safety workers are ready to make this high-tech move.

"We are ready to give them instantaneous access and both police and firefighters are very thrilled about this new tool that they will have to serve the public," said Mayor Elaine Walker.

The start of this system will allow a quicker response to citizens' requests and 911 calls.

It will also give police officers constant access to information such as outstanding warrants and license plate information.
