One of the best gifts a mother can receive on Mother's Day is a newborn.

That's just the gift Jill Smith wanted, and received.

Emma Kate Smith was born to Jill and her husband Chad around noon today at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

It was quite a surprise to have Emma on Mother's Day since, she was three weeks early.

"Yesterday I didn't think I would have had her today," said Jill.

"I figured I would have at least went to the 20th. But I really wanted her to come on Mother's Day, so I got my gift after all."

Emma Kate was born weight 7 lb., 14 oz.

She is the Smith's second child, and three-year-old Taylor is excited about being a big sister.
