Police in Danville are investigating a crash in which a 14-year-old girl died while driving a car.

The victim, Desiree Hinderer, was in the eighth grade and was two years younger than the legal age to get a driver's permit.

The car veered off a road on May 11 and hit a tree.

Danville police are talking with prosecutors about whether to charge the 17-year-old boy who was in the car with Hinderer.

His name isn't being released.
