The trial of three attorneys charged with defrauding clients out of millions of dollars from a diet drug settlement has begun in northern Kentucky.

Shirley Cunningham Jr., William Gallion and Melbourne Mills Jr. are accused of keeping millions of dollars that prosecutors say should have gone to plaintiffs in the 2001 settlement of a class-action lawsuit.

The $200-million settlement was over the diet drug Fen-phen.

Opening arguments are continuing at the Federal Courthouse in Covington.
