One day after Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama by a whopping 41 points in West Virginia, her former rival, John Edwards announced his endorsement of Obama for president.
"Their is one man and that man is Barack Obama!" stated Edwards.
It's an endorsement that Obama's campaign hopes will bring with it support from working class voters.
The stop in Michigan is part of Obama's shift away from the primaries towards the race against John McCain in the fall, but his failure in west Virginia on May 13 could signal a bigger problem- the state is full of the white, blue collar workers that Obama has struggled to connect with.
On May 14, Hillary Clinton argued her broad support makes her the ideal Democratic candidate..
"We were thrilled by our victory in West Virginia last night. It was a great validation of my message about fighting for people. we're going on to Kentucky and Oregon and the rest of the contests," said Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton also met with fundraisers this afternoon in Washington hoping that her West Virginia win will translate into new donations and keep her in the race at least until the primary calendar ends on June 3.
