It's an extraordinary accomplishment for one local young lady suffering from down syndrome.

Greenwood High School's volleyball manager Kate Tichenor has dedicated her high school years to taking care of the Lady Gators volleyball team.

And on May 16, she signed on to do the same for the Lady Toppers of Western Kentucky University.

"She is doing something as a senior, and taking the next step that most seniors get to take, and we're just blessed with that," said Kate's mom, Jane Tichenor.

Kate Tichenor was honored at a ceremony at Greenwood High School on May 16.
