It people across Monroe county took advantage of it by attending the 20th Annual Fountain Run Barbecue Festival.

Events like this could soon see more people--especially with gas prices on the rise.

"They're outrageous!" stated one Fountain Run resident.

"They're just way to high" said another.

"My mom doesn't have enough money like she used too," said Ryan Johnston.

It's no secret what these people are talking about--rising gas prices!

"The gas is ridiculous!" said another Monroe county resident.

And those prices are affecting Memorial Day traveling plans.

"I have family in Wisconsin and I was wanting to take a trip and I can't even make it out there because it's just too much," stated Sheri Austin.

"I just didn't make any plans this year," said another resident.

But with local festivals and events, families are able to still get away without paying the price at the pump...while having fun at the same time.

"I like all the games and prizes that you win," stated one resident.

And the food isn't bad either...

"I got the steak and it was the best steak I've ever had in my life," stated Johnston.

"All I've had is the chicken and i think it was pretty good," stated

So if you're looking to jump ahead to the summer season the prices at the pump could keep you nearby, but some say that's not too bad!

"It's a great time, said one area resident.

"I'm having fun. A lot of fun!" exclaimed another.

It may not be Disneyworld, but when it comes to good food and fun these are the places to be.
