Knoxville police say eight people are being questioned about the shooting of a Knoxville police officer.
Officer Norman Rickman was shot twice in the chest and once in the arm.
Police say Rickman was responding to a home burglar alarm call on May 20 when he was shot.
He wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest.
After the shooting, police launched a manhunt for three suspects, who were arrested at a home less than a mile from the scene.
"You have a lot of people that work for the city, and some of them have literally life and death situations they walk into everyday," stated Knoxville Mayor, Bill Haslam.
"You're always grateful for them, but it's a little bit more real, unfortunately, today."
Rickman suffered serious internal injuries but is expected to live.
The officer has been shot while on duty once before.
He was left in critical condition after a July 2001 shooting during a traffic stop.
