Friday afternoon at about four o’clock, Jimmy and Shaleen Johnson were driving east on Highway 68 near Fairview on their motorcycle.
A pick-up truck pulled out in front of them.
Shaleen was pronounced dead at the scene and Jimmy was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
The Johnsons are the parents of our own Darla Oglesby.
Darla’s mother often came to the station and brightened up the newsroom every time she visited.
She will be missed.
Darla’s father is still in critical condition, but doctors say his chances are good.
Police say the driver of the truck, 55 year old Gary Pentecost from Elkton, was intoxicated.
He is being charged with murder, assault, and driving under the influence.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to Darla and the rest of her family.
Pentecost remains jailed on a 525,750 dollar bond.
He'll be back in Christian Circuit Court November 16th for a preliminary hearing.
A celebration of Shaleen Johnson's life is set for this Saturday at ten a.m. at Hillvue Heights Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Shaleen Johnson Memorial Fund" in care of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home, 325 West Cedar Street, Franklin, KY 42134.
