BG City Commission Approves Tasers

By Gene Birk |

Tasers, the Warren County Sheriff's Department has them, Bowling Green Police want them, and last night, the Bowling Green City Commission unanimously gave the go-ahead for the police department to get them.

The commission was originally to take up the taser issue last month, but postponed its decision after a man in Nashville died two days after he was tased. But last night Bowling Green Police Major Quentin Hughes showed commissioners the Tennessee Medical Examiner's statement, which says there was no evidence the taser caused the man's death.

In fact, Major Hughes says there have been "no successful wrongful death suits against tasers to date." Hughes is now in the process of purchasing 89 tasers for the department.
