A storm room is designed to protect anyone in it from severe weather and can be built right along with your home.
Contractor Jody Allen says in a storm room a person is completely encased with concrete walls, floor, and ceiling.
He also notes that even if a person's house was to blow away, they would but left in the room.
While it is possible to put a safe room in an existing house, Allen recommends adding it to your plans when building a new home.
According to Allen, these secure rooms have risen in popularity in the last five years.
