PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A volunteer firefighter in eastern Kentucky died last night while trying to fight a blaze.
State police in Pikeville say Charles McKenzie died after a tanker truck rolled forward and pinned him underneath it.
Police say McKenzie was taking water to the scene of a structure fire in West Van Lear in Johnson County. After he arrived and got out of the truck, police say the truck rolled forward over an embankment and struck the 75-year-old volunteer firefighter.
