There are over 30 whitewater parks in America and one group wants to make sure that Warren County is added to that list.
The Greenways Commission wants to create a whitewater park on the Barren River next to Mitch McConnell park.
The renovation of the river area would make the waters better for paddlers, swimmers, and rafters by re-engineering the riverbed to lessen the river's drop, which is currently 10 to 12 feet deep.
Once completed, the river would feature six drops ranging from 12 to 18 inches in height.
Greenways is still waiting from final approval on the proposed park from city officials.
