According to Bowling Green Police Officer Barry Pruitt, "Pharmacy burglaries are typically a crime we see throughout the year. They're happening in our community as well as other communities across the state and across the nation."
Within the last week, the Medicine Arts Pharmacy was burglarized and almost $3000 worth of hydrocodone, a drug for cancer patients, was stolen.
Drug Task Force Officer Tommy Loving says," Our physician community overall is very good about not prescribing to addicts as opposed to other places in the country or even the state. People just can't run up to a pharmacist and receive controlled substances for pain without good cause."
Officer Pruitt also notes that most of the pharmacy burglars are professional thieves and are coming from different states to steal these specific drugs.
