Police in southern Kentucky are searching for an inmate who escaped while on work release.

48-year-old Gary Rollins walked away from his duty at the Pulaski County Animal Shelter on Wednesday afternoon.

He was serving an eight year sentence for trafficking in a controlled substance and bail jumping.

He was incarcerated at the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Police say someone saw Rollins leaving the Animal Shelter in a white car.

Rollins is described as a white male, 5'8" tall and weighs 170 pounds.

At the time of the escape, he had long brown hair and a beard. Rollins has numerous tattoos on his arms and neck.

Burgess should be considered dangerous.

If you see him, call 911 or local police.
