Railroad Collision

A collision between a train and a car occurred early Saturday morning around 12:20, killing 44-year-old Anthony Stafford of Bowling Green.

The accident occurred at the railroad crossing along Creason Street and Emmett Avenue.

According to the police report, Stafford turned onto Emmett Avenue from Creason Street, passed a car waiting at the intersection for an oncoming train, and attempted driving through the railroad crossing.

When Stafford tried to cross the intersection, the train collided with the car, hitting the driver side door.

According to the coroners office, a "crack pipe" and suspected cocaine residue were found on Stafford's body.

Stafford's was transported to the Elliot Mortuary in Madisonville and a toxicology report is pending.
