Duct Tape Flying Off Shelves

By Stephanie Stang |

Duct tape is flying off the shelves in stores across the nation and has an area factory working to keep up with the demand. Tyco Adhesives in Franklin, one of the nation's top duct tape makers, has started producing as much as four times as much duct tape to keep up with the demand.

Consumers are buying the adhesive in bulk ever since Federal Authorities listed it as a key product to protect against chemical or biological attacks. There are 800 employees who work at the Franklin Plant. The plant supplies tape for Home Depot, Costco, and Auto Zone. Executives at Tyco say they don't know how much longer the demand will last with so much uncertainty in the future.
