Al Baker Loses Appeal

On June 15 of 2004, Al Baker presented an "open records request," seeking all information relating to irregularities in the finances of the "Sloan Convention Center." Baker’s request followed a newspaper report which included "unauthorized disclosure of emails" about the controversy.

Warren Circuit Judge Steve Wilson denied Baker's request, saying the information he wanted was not subject to disclosure because it dealt with "preliminary recommendations" which are exempt from the "open records law."

The court of appeals unanimously upheld Judge Wilson's ruling.
