Meningococcal Advisory

The Barren River Health Department is warning those of you who attended a Western Basketball game at Diddle Arena on January 14. An attendee was diagnosed with the infection that could cause meningitis.

According the heath department the patient's movement was limited to skyboxes one through eight. The health department says people in this area had a very low risk of exposure. But they are warning that if you were a patron of skyboxes one through eight and develop signs and symptoms of the disease through January 24, you should contact your doctor.

Common symptoms include a sudden onset of fever, chills, feeling tired, a rash, vomiting, headache, stiff neck, and seizures.
