Al Baker Takes Case to the Kentucky Supreme Court

On June 15th of 2004, Al Baker presented an "open records request" to the city commission, seeking all information relating to irregularities in the finances of the "Sloan Convention Center."

Warren Circuit Judge, Steve Wilson, denied Baker's request, saying the information he wanted was not subject to disclosure, because it dealt with "preliminary recommendations" which are exempt from the "open records law." The court of appeals unanimously upheld Judge Wilson's ruling.

Baker says those of us being governed, should have every right to access the memoranda, documents, and e-mails our government officials use, via the "Kentucky Open Records Act." He is asking the Kentucky supreme court to rule in his favor.
