Kids love video games!

And for the most part they're safe.

But things aren't always as they seem...

Child predators are making their way into our children's video games.

It turns out predators play the games that allow kids to access the internet and text message each other.

Police have been doing stings in chat rooms for years, but now they're going undercover to catch predators playing games like Grand Theft Auto and Halo.

Many parents just don't know their kid can go on the web by playing these games!

Keeping the system in a busy place like your living room is just one way to prevent your child from becoming an online victim.

Also on the Dot-Com Desk: Police in the 1970's urged people to "drop a dime" in a pay phone to report crimes anonymously.

But now people are being invited to send a text message instead!

Its the sign of the times.

And police departments in Boston and Cincinnati started accepting anonymous text tips about a year ago.

Since then, more and more departments have taken similar steps or plans to do so in the future.

Police hope this will bring people in their twenties to start reporting crimes.
