A Russellville woman that many say has the biggest heart in Kentucky receives an honor from Gov. Ernie Fletcher.
Hazel Carver received the Education in Arts award Thursday for her significant contributions to arts in education.
Carver taught at Hughes Kirk High School in Muhlenberg County after graduating from Western Kentucky Teachers College in 1938. She later moved to Russellville to pursue her teaching career in music at Russellville city schools.
Carver was also involved with the Kentucky Music Educators Association for several years.
To this day Hazel Carver continues to teach piano lessons, and every now and then she plays the organ and piano for her church in Russellville.
