Simpson County Judge Executive Jim Henderson says the county must find a way to supplement its $540,000 revenue shortfall.
The Simpson County Fiscal Court voted Thursday to hear a first reading of an ordinance that would implement a one percent occupational tax. The first $20,000 profit for all farming and small businesses would be exempt from the tax.
The court will hear the first reading on March 4.
