The Houston psychology professor charged with murdering his 79-year-old stepfather, will not be eligible for parole until he serves 20 years of his 25-year sentence.
After listening to hours of testimony today, Warren Circuit Judge Tom Lewis ruled 60-year-old Dr. Patrick Doyle was competent to enter a plea, and accepted his plea of Guilty But Mentally Ill.
As soon as police arrived at Robert Hugh McGown's Bowling Green home in May of 2001, Doyle admitted he had killed his stepfather.
