New computer technology at the Medical Center is bringing the emergency room to you over the phone.
The Medical Center's EMT dispatch center recently installed new computer software that allows a dispatcher to record a caller's information directly into the computer. The computer then gives the dispatcher information that can be relayed back to the caller.
Dispatchers trained with the new program for five weeks. So far they have many success sorties, including a situation where a little boy gave CPR to his father while the dispatcher gave the instructions to the boy over the phone. In the past dispatchers recorded the information on information sheets.
