Former Councilman Gets Jail Time

A former Central City councilman will spend the next 15 months in prison after being sentenced on federal fraud charges.

Danny Miller received the sentence on Monday after pleading guilty in U.S. District Court last September.

Miller admitted to conning the federal government out of workers' compensation benefits over a four-year period.

He resigned from the city council following his guilty plea.

Miller is also required to pay back more than $107,000 in restitution.

Miller admitted he told the U.S. Department of Labor that he was not employed from 2000 to 2004.

But during that time, he was running Miller's Independent Safety, a consulting business.

Miller was elected to the central city council in 2002.
