Crime Stoppers: Mailbox Vandalism

By  |

Six mailboxes were damaged around noon Monday, February 6, on Sandra Street. Most of them appeared to have been hit with a blunt object. Some of the homeowners actually heard the mailboxes being hit.

Mailboxes are considered federal property, and federal law makes it a crime to vandalize them. Violators can be fined up to $250,000 or imprisoned for up to three years for each act of vandalism.

You should immediately report theft, tampering with, or destruction of mail and mailboxes to police and your local postmaster.

If you know anything about this mailbox vandalism, please call "Crime Stoppers" at 781-"CLUE" or click here to go to their Web site. You could earn up to $1,000 for your anonymous tip.

Mailbox vandalism isn't funny; it's a felony!
