Arena Proposal

ANOTHER ISSUE THE KENTUCKY HOUSE HAS WEIGHED IN ON...IS THE PROPOSED ARENA IN LOUISVILLE. THE BUDGET PLAN UNVEILED YESTERDAY DOES PROVIDE MONEY FOR THE ARENA...BUT NOT AT THE SITE THE GOVERNOR AND LOUISVILLE MAJOR JERRY ABRAMSON WERE HOPING. THE PLAN CALLS FOR THE ARENA TO BE BUILT AT A SITE NEAR THE CITY'S ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT .
HOUSE SPEAKER JODY RICHARDS SAYS THE HOUSES BUDGET PROPOSAL WOULD CALL FOR BUILDING THE ARENA ON LAND FORMERLY OWNED BY THE LOUISVILLE WATER COMPANY.
FLETCHER RECOMMENDED A SITE OWNED BY LOUISVILLE GAS AND ELECTRIC. RICHARDS SAID HOUSE LEADERS PICKED THE WATER COMPANY SITE BECAUSE IT WAS CHEAPER TO BUILD AND CLOSER TO LOUISVILLE'S CONVENTION CENTER.
