A Morgantown woman is dead after losing control of her vehicle and her passenger owes his life to two Good Samaritans.

Kentucky State Police say 29-year-old Shannon Phelps was driving on KY-231 yesterday when she lost control and hit two trees.

Phelps was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, 20-year-old Joshua Woolsey, also from Morgantown, was pulled from the vehicle before it caught fire.

Joe Johnson and Terry Friell heard the accident and came to the boy's rescue.

Woosley was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
