One man started the line at 11 a.m. yesterday outside AT&T on Campbell Lane. That man was joined by dozens more this morning as the anticipation built for the release of the iPhone 3G.

The wait was longer than expected, as a global glitch in iTunes prevented many phones from being fully activated in-store today. Most of the people outside AT&T said a longer wait wasn't going to stop them from picking up a new iPhone.

They're the sounds of an incoming call and these folks can't wait to hear them ringing from their very own iPhone 3G.

"It's the hottest gadget on the market, man," says one man waiting. "I'm so hyped for this new product."

It's that hype that's had some waiting hours to move from outside to in the store.

"Since 3 A-M," says Sharminic Washington.

"I got here at about 6:30," adds Kaelin Ditmore.

"Been waiting in line since five minutes to 8," Mark Bowers says. "We were in the tail end."

Even for those at the back of the line, all they have to do is wait two hours and, well, they'll probably still be in line.

"We didn't think Bowling Green would have a line this long," Mark laughs.

A global problem activating phones in-store has slowed down the check out process, but there's plenty to do out here in the meantime.

"Sleeping on the hard concrete," says Sharminic.

"Actually, I've been tanning," says one man. "I'm burnt. Can you not tell? I'm burnt burnt."

These folks say it's all worth it just to kick that old phone to the curb and enjoy those great new features.

"It's got the 3-G, which is near Broadband speeds," says Joshua Lindsui.

"It also has a GPS now," adds Kaelin.

"My mom, she's in South Carolina," explains Mark."I can send her pictures and she'd love that."

"Just looking forward to getting in there, getting one and going to sleep," Sharminic concludes.

As for the problems with getting those iPhones activated in store, AT&T employees are telling buyers to go home and perform the last step by connecting their phones to their home computers.
