The state's Department of Education is looking for ways to boost teacher quality. In the next 2 years 10 school districts will participate in a pilot project.
The project may give teachers salary incentives or students may receive tuition reimbursement for working in schools that are hard to staff. Education officials hope to attract more people toward the profession with the teacher shortage in Kentucky.
In Warren County 25 teachers who meet a certain criteria will mentor other teachers. Those teachers will receive extra-duty pay for the training. The program starts next fall.
