Firefighters credit a family's smoke detectors for saving their lives...In an early morning fire. According to Alvaton Deputy Chief John Lamb...They received a call just after two this morning. Three fire units from Alvaton...Plano...And Woodburn responded to the fire on cave mill road. Lamb says the residents were asleep when the fire broke out...But the thick smoke set off the alarms...And woke the residents up...Allowing them to get out of the house safely. He says because the fire was between the first and second floor... It spread rapidly...And that the house was pretty involved when fire units arrived. Firefighters were on the scene until ten-thirty this morning. Lamb says about 80 percent of the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation..
