State leaders say they want to raise teacher's starting salaries to keep jobs competitive with those in surrounding states.
Both the house and senate's budget includes two percent raises in the first year of the two-year budget, followed by a three thousand dollar increase in the second.
They both also have a plan to increase the base salary for teachers.
The senate's proposal would add two extra instructional days
to the school year.
Both of the proposals would include raises for food service workers, bus drivers, and custodians.
A conference committee will meet in the next couple of days to work on a compromise between the plans.
