Alarms and sirens sounded all across South-Central Kentucky Tuesday morning, in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill.

The 'test' tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service as part their awareness campaign for Severe Storms Preparedness month in Kentucky. All area schools participated in the drill by having students take cover as if it was an actual tornado warning.

Students at Lost River Elementary heeded the warning to take action today. The children at the school have been practicing the steps for safety all year. One fourth grader says she realizes spring is prime time for severe weather in our state. Teachers at Lost River say they are pleased with how the students reacted to Tuesday’s drill.
